Not that easy

When I started my sewing "career" I often scrolled through sewing blogs and admired others' makes. I was so impressed, cause everything looked just perfect. I wished that I would sew like that one day. I thought thatyou simply can't mess up a simple project. Now I know that there's no such thing as an easy project that you can't mess up. I've leartn this lesson quite early. Everything thanks to so-called "easy skirt" that wasn't easy at all.

I've picked pattern #3 from Burda Easy S/S 2012. Fun fact - you can see my face and this skirt in that issue. I used a medium weight knit fabric with very little stretch. It was a nightmare. I had to use different types and sizes of needles, because my machine kept skipping stitches. Also, even though I've measured myself few times, the skirt was way larger than it should be. I'll definitely pick a smaller size next time. The only thing I've skipped in the original pattern was a zipper, which was a big mistake. It would've been much more comfortable with some sort of fastening. I really liked this skirt when I was younger, but now I'm not a big fan of it. I know what I did wrong and what I could change to make it look better. Still, it's a great way to see how much I've learnt in those past six years.

I don't think I'll wear this skirt again. Maybe I should make a new version? This one will always be a great memento.
